Rinn Gion Kenninji Villa

Beautiful room! Very comfortable, large, and lovely! Nice staying in Gion in some ways except for all the tourists and taxis. Staff very helpful with everything. I would definitely stay here again. - Wanted to add that after we left we discovered our son had left a pair of pants behind. I contact the hotel and they went through the trouble of shipping the pants to our next hotel. We so appreciated this!

We did our laundry but it didn’t dry all the way. Not unusual in Japan but still annoying.

Spacious, clean, friendly staff (they helped us send the baggage), close to major shrines and train to nara. A lot of restaurants all around. Super cozy area.

We are not used to futons... we found it quite hard.

In a very central location Kyoto, and an excellent room. We stayed in a 4 person room with our 2 grown up sons. Half the room in a modern setup, and half the room in Ryokan style setup, this hotel room scored as the best room we stayed in, with unanimous agreement from the family.

Location was perfect, the villa (queen with two futons) was very comfortable and cozy for our family of four. Traditional feel yet modern convenience.

Location was very good. Lots of places to visit just around the accomodation.Room was spacious.We were informed that the room will only be cleaned wvery few days and not daily. But with a 2 years old and qnother child. The room got dirty fast within our 7 days stay.Will have been better wirh daily housekeeping. But otherwise the stay was verh memorable. Thanks

Staff were extremely helpful their English was very good. The location was perfect walking distance to all that Gion has to offer as well as shopping and food market.

Loved the room! It was a perfect Japanese style room with a tatami area and small garden area. Loved the sliding door private entry, it was like entering our own little home, ryokan style! The location was central to train stations and the shopping district close proximity to eating places as well. Staff was extremely polite and professional.

The futon was a little thin to be a futon. We were able to double it and had someone sleep on the sofa.

Beautiful space. Spacious and clean. Wonderful for our family of 4. Close to train station and convenience stores. Able to easily explore Kyoto. Staff was amazing, able to help us on multiple issues.

Great location. Very near all the places of attraction. in a quite and safe neighborhood.

Great location in Gion. Could walk to several temples and shrines, the downtown area, ponto-cho and metro stations. Seven-Eleven and Lawson's were near by along with many family-run restaurants. The room itself was very spacious and quiet and the lighting was great.

It wasn't a big deal but it would have been nice to have somewhere to dispose of our garbage along with some dish soap to wash mugs out since room cleaning was only done on the 3rd day of our stay. But those were minor inconveniences and overall, we were very pleased with the room. We'd happily stay here again.

The location. The rooms were spacious. Some nice extra features like the indoor garden. Having the fire stick TV first time had that available to us in Japan. Good security.

The late 4pm checkin. We had travelled from Hiroshima that day and a couple in our party of 11 were very unwell and just needed to lay down go to bed and they would not allow an earlier checkin under any circumstances. In my opinion 4 pm is too late a checkin for people who are travelling. The rooms had already been cleaned and ready for occupancy as I had to attend to check that the bedding arrangements were correct for our party.

Great location, near all the conveniences but in a quieter back street. Room size was fantastic, big bed (in between queen and king size), great large bathroom and shower. Perfect for our family of 4, with 2 teenagers in single futon mattresses. Very new, modern, clean with all the amenities provided. Room had microwave, fridge and tea/coffee making facilities (pod coffee machine) and Netflix connectivity.

No breakfast provided and no on-site cafe/restaurant. Breakfast cafes very hard to come by in the area, particularly over public holidays. No washing machine or Laundromat.

It is beautifully Japanese-style yet very spacious. It is also in a great location. I highly recommend it!

The laundry facility is not very good. We kept adding money to the dryer, but it didn’t dry anything…

Great location in the heart of Gion. Our room was very comfortable, especially the beds. It was nice to have the extra space.

It's more airbnb than hotel. They do not clean the rooms, but guests can request items to be replaced. On our first day, even though we requested, nothing was replaced. They took care of it quickly and there were no more issues for the rest of our 5-night stay

This was by far one of the most lovely and exquisite hotel rooms we've stayed in. The small zen garden and tatami area were absolutely beautiful. It was a joy to return to the space at the end of each day. The room was very spacious (about the size of a small apartment) and comfortable. The hotel overall was lovely, and the reception desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was excellent - on a quieter street away from the busy areas, yet within a 10-15-minute walk to the city centre and many historic sites. We definitely plan to stay at Rinn Gion Kenninji Villa again next time we visit Kyoto.

We wish there had been better communication about the rules for changing towels and emptying the trash bin. Also, when a staff member did eventually enter the room to empty the trash, it seemed to have been done in a hasty manner. The price is a bit on a high side for a one-week stay.
